So Scott and I were on our way home from Salt Lake and it was POURING from Fillmore to almost Hurricane.
Well as we were coming down the last hill at Black Rock we hit standing water and hydroplaned.
We were in the left lane and spun 360 degrees to the right and slid down the right side of the embankment and stopped!
We were really lucky we didn't roll, the police said that up about 20 feet they have roll overs all the time because the shoulder is so steep.
As soon as we lost control of the car we thought we were going to roll.
I held on the my seatbelt and I guess I screamed (I don't remember that part)
and Scott just held on to the steering wheel.
We were lucky no one was in the right lane!!
We tried drive the car our but the mud was almost up to the door sill and so the tires just spun.
Because there were so many accidents (20 the police said) right then we didn't even call the police or the tow truck they just showed up about 5 minutes after.
Our poor car got a nice dent on the passenger side
and lots of dirt/rocks everywhere.
Pretty much all the damage is on the passenger side.
My parents picked me up (We were so happy Stella was in the car with them) and Scott rode with the tow truck back to St. George, then he drove the car home.
It shakes a lot when you go faster then about 35 so it is now in the shop and they are trying to figure out exactly what happened.
When I read over what I wrote it doesn't sound very scary but at that moment it was horrifying.
I didn't cry over the accident or because I was scared but I did cry when I started thinking about trying to pay for it.
We have had horrible luck this year.
1) March I was rear ended at a stop light. (not our fault)
2) March Scott's truck was hit in our parking lot at 10:00pm
(luckily we have nice neighbors who came and told us) (not our fault)
3) August Scott was hit on his motorcylce (not our fault)
4) August we hydroplaned (our fault)
We are praying for no more accidents

I'll pray with you! You have had your share. we were on the road just ahead of you. I noticed the vast amounts of water on the road this side of the black ridge and because I have had experience with 'hydoplaning' I slowed way, way down....other cars went right on by flipping water everywhere. I was surprised we didn't see one of them hydroplane. We did see one up the road a bit, about the Beaver area. You are right! the trip down was very, very wet. Love you and we're glad you are OK!
